I came to the conclusion. Or at least reaffirmed my conclusion that there is simply no single standard of preparing, serving and enjoying this beautiful Italian tricolore.
My wife and I have visited Italy three times now and during each visit I make a concerted effort to order a Caprese at every restaurant, or opportunity that presents itself.
As many of you Caprese fans out there know – the interesting thing about this dish is the many forms it can take on. I think the only thing that trumps that, is the varied tastes and smells each experience share with you.
From the various mozarella and tomato varieties, to the regions the produce is sourced from, and even the way the basil is served make this dish my favourite entrée I’ll always love.
I wanted to share these fine specimens recently enjoyed along the Amalfi Coast – from Pub Sud-Est in the south, through to Ristorante Pizzeria Mustafá in the north. Each of these come highly recommended of course!
Ps. Apologies for the backlight or lack thereof on some images. We can either blame the iPhone camera or, well, the local vino bianchi!
